Success Stories

After attending a technology camp through Penn State, when I was in high school, I decided I wanted to learn as much as I could about IT and Computer Science. I earned an Associate’s degree in Computer Information Systems from the Community College of Philadelphia. Then, a counselor from OVR referred me to InspiriTec – a company that embraces what people with disabilities can do. I have worked here since March 2005 in several jobs. I am currently an IT Support Technician Tier 2, primarily providing desktop support for InspiriTec employees. In my InspiriTec career, customers and colleagues have sensed I really want to help them, and I am proud that I have made them feel like there is still hope in resolving their inquiries. InspiriTec’s managers marvel at my abilities, and they have given me the confidence to advance myself in IT and Computer Science. I have the A+ Certification, Network+ Certification, and the Security+ Certification – all from CompTIA. InspiriTec has given me additional knowledge, especially in computer hardware and software. I get along well with all my coworkers – many of whom have disabilities, and InspiriTec’s flexible hours allow me to attend religious services that are really important to me. Outside InspiriTec, I help my father with his business; I work there part-time. I plan to further my studies in IT and Computer Science, which will allow me to solve even more IT problems for InspiriTec and Dad! I believe people with disabilities should not be overlooked, we have gifts, and we can do as high a quality of work as anyone else. A senior executive here told me many years ago – and I never forgot it: “Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do something!”
